Curriculum - Snack TimeParents are to provide a snack for their child. Parents will need to guide their children in appropriate food choices that will supply the optimal food value as the best "fuel for their bodies." More details are provided in the Parent Handbook. Snack time is an important but short interval in the children's schedule placed midway through the program session. All food items need to be nutritious, small in portion size, and sent in easy access containers for the children (No open drink containers allowed to avoid spills). Some suggestions:Fruit of all kinds, cheese $amp; crackers, lunch meat and crackers, ½ sandwich (no peanut butter as some are allergic) Juice (but don't forget that water will be just perfect), veggies of all kinds and dip, beef jerky, yogurt tubes, Minigo's, granola bars (not chocolate covered), dried fruit, cheese on a bun, pretzels and cheese cubes, raisins, Craisins, cheese string, just to name a few... *No sugar snacks or candy please. (cookies and treats are allowed on the event of a child's birthday or holiday party etc.) |
